So for the past three weeks or so Taco Bell has been running the “return of the Bacon Club Chalupa” ad in the Omaha area. However my sources confirm that the “Bacon Club Chalupa” has no plans to even re-enter the Omaha area on this promotion. The ad was added wrong by Taco Bell and the ad should have been pushing the Loaded Taco Salad instead. EPIC FAIL on the part of Taco Bell. If it wasn’t for the disclaimer at the bottom of the ad I would have been ticked. Stupid simple words “Limited Time Only. At participating TACO BELL locations. ” or something like that.

Taco Bell needs to bring back the Chicken Cesear Burrito or whatever it was called.

On Monday April 28th 2008 the group headed out for another fun night this time at Chili’s Bar and Grill at 144th & Oakview Drive. This outing went much better then the previous outing at Old Chicago.

The service was excellent. Despite the size of the group they were ready for us. Drinks were coming when we ordered them, food came out on a timely fashion and appetizers were faster then anywhere I have been in a while. The new sleek menu was the first thing that caught my eye when we sat down. Looking through the menu there were a few new items that sparked my fancy.

So what did I order – A couple of us split the Texas Cheese Fries and an Awesome Blossom, both are amazing and the Texas Cheese Fries are something new at least to me !

The main dish was something new as well for me, the Jalapeno Smokehouse Bacon Big Mouth Burger. So if you mouth isn’t that big then the burger and the name of the burger are not for you. This burger had some amazing applewood smoked bacon with cheddar cheese, some tortilla strips, jalapenos, and an awesome jalapeno-ranch dressing.

For dessert the usually, Molten Chocolate Cake ! Need I say more

So overall the service was awesome, the food amazing and the price was excellent. A must visit and a personal favorite dinning spot for years. If you are ever in a hurry call ahead to your local Chilis and order your food. I recommend the Chips and Queso Dip for on the go To find your Local Chilis check out their website locator.

Overall Ratings ♦ (poor) ♦♦ (fair) ♦♦♦ (good) ♦♦♦♦ (excellent)

Service: ♦♦♦ ½

Food: ♦♦♦♦

Price: ♦♦♦ ½

Overall: ♦♦♦♦

Our next outing will not be for a few weeks as we are planning a Potluck dinner at my house. So check back for anywhere I visit in the mean time and the group reviews will be back at the end of May or beginning of June after the Potluck !

Date of the Visit: Monday April 14th 2008

So a group of friends and myself went to Old Chicago on 144th & W. Center for our bi-monthly dinner. This experience was a one of a kind for this location and what seems to be a growing problem with West Omaha restaurants.

This problem I speak of is a lack of service. When you arrive at a restaurant and after two hours still have not been able to get you food and finish it then you know there is a problem. For the sake of our server I hope he was a new guy, but it was obvious that he was not and that a group of 10-15 people just doesn’t mean anything to Old Chicago at this location. Continually during the course of the evening we had to ask other servers to find our server as he continually disappeared for chunks of time.

As far as some of the other aspects of the restaurant go, the food and drinks, are good. The popular choice of the night was the “Three Course Meal“. The popular choices were the Italian Bruchetta, Classic Italian Melt and Homemade Cheesecake Shot. All of these items were amazing. The price was perfect, starting at $10.99.

Overall Ratings ♦ (poor) ♦♦ (fair) ♦♦♦ (good) ♦♦♦♦♦ (excellent)

Service: ♦

Food: ♦♦♦

Price: ♦♦♦
